Living in the mystery
January 8, 2010
It's been a while since anything has been added to this blog, so I thought I would take a minute and place down some thoughts that have been running around my mind.
When was the last time you sat in wonder at the love of the Father?
I know it seems like and odd question and kind of extra youth pastory sounding, but I think there is something to be said for being a little in awe of what you cannot begin to comprehend. I think sometimes we get so caught up in doing work for God that we forget to be his child. I wonder if we sometimes make Christianity a job instead of a joyful lifestyle.
It seems like the way most people define Christianity is by starting with what you should do and should not do. I don't know if that captures the heart of being beloved by God. I think that maybe Christianity starts with and is most about simply being known and loved by God and accepting that love, clinging to it.
To me it's a mystery that we are completely loved by God. You cannot be loved more or better. You cannot be known more fully. You cannot see how deep the love is. You cannot escape it. You cannot destroy it. You cannot control it. It is complete. Nothing else can compare.
Go and live in that mystery. Walk with God and know that you will never know how much you are loved. Find some comfort in being out of control. Find peace in knowing that with the love of the Father there is no hidden agenda, no quiet manipulation, no disgust, no abuse. He is calling you to first love Him. He is calling all of his children to come hide under His wings. Your mistakes, your sins can and will be forgiven through the blood of Christ, so don't let them slow you down as you run like a prodigal into the Great Love. Go live in the mystery.
